NATIONS under GOD

Exodus 20:1-6

King James Version

20 And God spake all these words, saying,

2 I am the Lord thy God,

which have brought thee out of the land of Egypt,

out of the house of bondage.

3 Thou shalt have no other gods before me.

4 Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image,

or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above,

or that is in the earth beneath,

or that is in the water under the earth.

5 Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them,

nor serve them:

for I the Lord thy God am a jealous God,

visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children

unto the third and fourth generation

of them that hate me;

6 And shewing mercy

unto thousands of them that love me,

and keep my commandments.

Why are most nations in crisis?

Tell me the state of a nation, and I can only look to the president, and his cabinet.

Tell me the state of a nation, and I can only look to its citizens, at the matters of their heart.

Tell me the state of a nation, and I can tell you if its citizens believe in GOD.

Tell me the state of a nation, and I can tell you if it is the same GOD of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.

Tell me the state of a nation, and I can tell you if they believe, and love, JESUS.

Only through JESUS, can there be peace.

Are the people enjoying abundance?

Or are they suffering from war, poverty, and hunger?

Is the nation being run by GOD?

Or are they running away from GOD?

Look to how the world is today:

Presidents come, presidents go.

Before they can even warm their seat, they are unseated.

There seems to be a wave of unseated presidents these days.

Doesn't that create chaos in their citizens, and the programs these leaders want to implement, or have been implementing?

Isn't it a waste of time, money, and resources for the nation?

Doesn't it make people sad, and bereft of hope?

One would think, that soon as you've elected a new president, people's hopes would run high.

That change would come

But has change really come?

Are nations under the mercy of presidents?

For a godless nation, I must say yes.

For, if a nation was under GOD, there would be love for the LORD, and for people.

If a president truly loved GOD, he would read the Bible.

He would live by the Bible.

He would be a true born again.

He would obey the will of the LORD.

He would worship GOD.

He would believe in JESUS.

He would be guided by the HOLY SPIRIT.

His policies would be sound, just, and GOD-fearing.

Proverbs 8:13-16

King James Version

13 The fear of the Lord is to hate evil:

pride, and arrogancy, and the evil way,

and the froward mouth, do I hate.

14 Counsel is mine, and sound wisdom:

 I am understanding; I have strength.

15 By me kings reign, and princes decree justice.

16 By me princes rule, and nobles,

even all the judges of the earth.

Proverbs 14:26-27

King James Version

26 In the fear of the Lord is strong confidence:

and his children shall have a place of refuge.

27 The fear of the Lord is a fountain of life,

to depart from the snares of death.

The believer would be turly wide awake.

He would know the world for what it is:

1 John 5:19

King James Version

19 And we know that we are of God,

and the whole world lieth in wickedness.

And he would take measures that he is not sucked into it.

He would meditate upon GOD each day.

Psalm 119:97

King James Version

97 O how love I thy law!

it is my meditation all the day.

Psalm 119:174

King James Version

174 I have longed for thy salvation,

O Lord;

and thy law is my delight.

Every decision, is sanctioned by GOD.

Every thought, word, or deed, obeys GOD's will.

If nations don't exhibit peace, we know that nations have followed the enemy.

But there will be peace.

According to GOD's plan.

For the RAPTURE will occur.

Where the faithful will meet JESUS up in the air.

After which, great hardship will come.

And you will want to have been part of the Rapture.

It's really all preparation now.

GOD and nations

Psalm 117:1

King James Version

117 O praise the Lord, all ye nations:

praise him, all ye people.

When you've become born again, and child-like before the LORD, His laws are stunningly simple.

There is no debate around it.

There is only a delight in knowing His laws, and eagerness to obey whatever pleases the LORD.

That's what differentiates the unbeliever, the occasional Christian, from the true born again.

That's what differentiates those who have bought into the world, from the true believer in JESUS.

But man refuses to listen, his ego does the thinking, he shuts out GOD's invitation, thus, the world is the way it is.

But listen to what Scripture says about GOD and nations:

Genesis 17:1-9

King James Version

17 And when Abram was ninety years old and nine,

the Lord appeared to Abram,

and said unto him,

I am the Almighty God;

walk before me, and be thou perfect.

2 And I will make my covenant between me and thee,

and will multiply thee exceedingly.

3 And Abram fell on his face:

and God talked with him, saying,

4 As for me,

behold, my covenant is with thee,

and thou shalt be a father of many nations.

5 Neither shall thy name any more be called Abram,

but thy name shall be Abraham;

for a father of many nations have I made thee.

6 And I will make thee exceeding fruitful,

and I will make nations of thee,

and kings shall come out of thee.

7 And I will establish my covenant

between me and thee

and thy seed after thee in their generations

for an everlasting covenant,

to be a God unto thee,

and to thy seed after thee.

8 And I will give unto thee,

and to thy seed after thee,

the land wherein thou art a stranger,

all the land of Canaan,

for an everlasting possession;

and I will be their God.

9 And God said unto Abraham,

Thou shalt keep my covenant therefore,

thou, and thy seed after thee in their generations.

Deuteronomy 32:7-9

King James Version

7 Remember the days of old,

consider the years of many generations:

 ask thy father, and he will shew thee;

thy elders, and they will tell thee.

8 When the Most High divided to the nations their inheritance,

when he separated the sons of Adam,

he set the bounds of the people

according to the number of the children of Israel.

9 For the Lord's portion is his people;

Jacob is the lot of his inheritance.

2 Kings 17:18

King James Version

18 Therefore the Lord was very angry with Israel,

and removed them out of his sight:

there was none left but the tribe of Judah only.

2 Chronicles 36:11-17

King James Version

11 Zedekiah was one and twenty years old

when he began to reign,

and reigned eleven years in Jerusalem.

12 And he did that which was evil

in the sight of the Lord his God,

and humbled not himself before Jeremiah the prophet

speaking from the mouth of the Lord.

13 And he also rebelled against king Nebuchadnezzar,

who had made him swear by God:

but he stiffened his neck,

and hardened his heart

from turning unto the Lord God of Israel.

14 Moreover all the chief of the priests,

 and the people,

transgressed very much

after all the abominations of the heathen;

and polluted the house of the Lord

which he had hallowed in Jerusalem.

15 And the Lord God of their fathers

sent to them by his messengers,

rising up betimes, and sending;

because he had compassion on his people,

and on his dwelling place:

16 But they mocked the messengers of God,

and despised his words,

and misused his prophets,

until the wrath of the Lord arose against his people,

till there was no remedy.

17 Therefore he brought upon them the king of the Chaldees,

who slew their young men with the sword

in the house of their sanctuary,

and had no compassion upon young man or maiden,

old man, or him that stooped for age:

he gave them all into his hand.

2 Chronicles 7:14

King James Version

14 If my people,

which are called by my name,

shall humble themselves,

and pray,

and seek my face,

and turn from their wicked ways;

then will I hear from heaven,

and will forgive their sin,

and will heal their land.

2 Chronicles 36:22-23

King James Version

22 Now in the first year of Cyrus king of Persia,

that the word of the Lord

spoken by the mouth of Jeremiah might be accomplished,

the Lord stirred up the spirit of Cyrus king of Persia,

that he made a proclamation throughout all his kingdom,

and put it also in writing, saying,

23 Thus saith Cyrus king of Persia,

All the kingdoms of the earth

hath the Lord God of heaven given me;

and he hath charged me to build him an house in Jerusalem,

which is in Judah.

Who is there among you of all his people?

The Lord his God be with him,

and let him go up.

Job 12:21

King James Version

21 He poureth contempt upon princes,

and weakeneth the strength of the mighty.

Job 12:23

King James Version

23 He increaseth the nations, and destroyeth them:

he enlargeth the nations, and straiteneth them again.

Job 12:24-25

King James Version

24 He taketh away the heart

of the chief of the people of the earth,

and causeth them to wander in a wilderness

where there is no way.

25 They grope in the dark without light,

and he maketh them to stagger like a drunken man.

Psalm 22:28

King James Version

28 For the kingdom is the Lord's:

and he is the governor among the nations.

Psalm 33:12

King James Version

12 Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord;

and the people whom he hath chosen

for his own inheritance.

Psalm 46:8-10

King James Version

8 Come, behold the works of the Lord,

what desolations he hath made in the earth.

9 He maketh wars to cease unto the end of the earth;

he breaketh the bow,

and cutteth the spear in sunder;

he burneth the chariot in the fire.

10 Be still,

and know that I am God:

I will be exalted among the heathen,

I will be exalted in the earth.

Psalm 66:5-7

King James Version

5 Come and see the works of God:

he is terrible in his doing toward the children of men.

6 He turned the sea into dry land:

they went through the flood on foot:

there did we rejoice in him.

7 He ruleth by his power for ever;

his eyes behold the nations:

let not the rebellious exalt themselves.

Selah.

Psalm 145:21

King James Version

21 My mouth shall speak the praise of the Lord:

and let all flesh bless his holy name

for ever and ever.

Isaiah 9:6

King James Version

6 For unto us a child is born,

unto us a son is given:

and the government shall be upon his shoulder:

and his name shall be called Wonderful,

Counsellor,

The mighty God,

The everlasting Father,

The Prince of Peace.

Isaiah 40:21-25

King James Version

21 Have ye not known?

have ye not heard?

hath it not been told you from the beginning?

have ye not understood from the foundations of the earth?

22 It is he that sitteth upon the circle of the earth,

and the inhabitants thereof are as grasshoppers;

that stretcheth out the heavens as a curtain,

and spreadeth them out as a tent to dwell in:

23 That bringeth the princes to nothing;

he maketh the judges of the earth as vanity.

24 Yea, they shall not be planted;

yea, they shall not be sown:

yea, their stock shall not take root in the earth:

and he shall also blow upon them,

and they shall wither,

and the whirlwind shall take them away as stubble.

25 To whom then will ye liken me,

or shall I be equal?

saith the Holy One.

Isaiah 41:1-4

King James Version

41 Keep silence before me, O islands;

and let the people renew their strength:

let them come near;

then let them speak:

let us come near together to judgment.

2 Who raised up the righteous man from the east,

called him to his foot,

gave the nations before him,

and made him rule over kings?

he gave them as the dust to his sword,

and as driven stubble to his bow.

3 He pursued them, and passed safely;

even by the way that he had not gone with his feet.

4 Who hath wrought and done it,

calling the generations from the beginning?

I the Lord,

the first, and with the last;

I am he.

Matthew 28:18-19

King James Version

18 And Jesus came and spake unto them,

saying,

All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.

19 Go ye therefore,

and teach all nations,

baptizing them in the name of the Father,

and of the Son,

and of the Holy Ghost:

Acts 17:24-28

King James Version

24 God that made the world and all things therein,

seeing that he is Lord of heaven and earth,

dwelleth not in temples made with hands;

25 Neither is worshipped with men's hands,

as though he needed any thing,

seeing he giveth to all life,

and breath, and all things;

26 And hath made of one blood all nations of men

for to dwell on all the face of the earth,

and hath determined the times before appointed,

and the bounds of their habitation;

27 That they should seek the Lord,

if haply they might feel after him,

and find him, though he be not far from every one of us:

28 For in him we live,

and move,

and have our being;

as certain also of your own poets have said,

For we are also his offspring.

Philippians 2:9-11

King James Version

9 Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him,

and given him a name which is above every name:

10 That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow,

of things in heaven,

and things in earth,

and things under the earth;

11 And that every tongue should confess

that Jesus Christ is Lord,

to the glory of God the Father.

Revelation 1:7

King James Version

7 Behold,

he cometh with clouds;

 and every eye shall see him,

and they also which pierced him:

and all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of him.

Even so, Amen.

Revelation 22:2

King James Version

2 In the midst of the street of it,

and on either side of the river,

was there the tree of life,

which bare twelve manner of fruits,

and yielded her fruit every month:

and the leaves of the tree

were for the healing of the nations.

LIGHT and GLORY

Isaiah 60:1-3

King James Version

60 Arise, shine;

for thy light is come,

and the glory of the Lord is risen upon thee.

2 For, behold,

the darkness shall cover the earth,

and gross darkness the people:

but the Lord shall arise upon thee,

and his glory shall be seen upon thee.

3 And the Gentiles shall come to thy light,

and kings to the brightness of thy rising.

FAITH of presidents

Psalm 127:1

King James Version

127 Except the Lord build the house,

they labour in vain that build it:

except the Lord keep the city,

the watchman waketh but in vain.

How important is faith, in the building of nations?

How important is belief in the LORD JESUS, in leadership?

I will make a claim here:

The FUTURE of our WORLD depends on our acceptance of JESUS as our LORD, and SAVIOR.

A true born again looks to no other GOD, but the LORD JESUS:

Matthew 28:18

King James Version

18 And Jesus came and spake unto them,

saying,

All power is given unto me

in heaven and in earth.

Acts 4:12

King James Version

12 Neither is there salvation in any other:

for there is none other name under heaven

given among men,

whereby we must be saved.

Romans 11:36

King James Version

36 For of him,

and through him,

 and to him,

are all things:

to whom be glory for ever.

Amen.

Now, it's time to review America, and what her presidents believed in, starting with the FIRST three leaders:

GEORGE WASHINGTON

Peter Marshall and David Manuel, authors of "The Light and the Glory", in the process of their research, stumbled across an old book ("by chance") from the stacks at Yale Divinity School Library in the 70s.

This old book was written by William J. Johnson, and had the title, "George Washington, the Christian".

Any researcher would get all excited at the prospect of knowing more about America's first president, and esteemed general and Commander-in-Chief of the Continental Army during the American Revolution.

And here's what they found.

A prayer written in Washington's own hand:

"Let my heart, therefore, gracious God, be so affected with the glory and majesty of (Thine honor) that I may not do mine own works, but wait on Thee, and discharge those weighty duties which Thou requirest of me..."

JOHN ADAMS

"Adams was raised a Congregationalist, but ultimately rejected many fundamental doctrines of conventional Christianity, such as the Trinity and the divinity of Jesus, becoming a Unitarian. In his youth, Adams' father urged him to become a minister, but Adams refused, considering the practice of law to be a more noble calling. Although he once referred to himself as a "church going animal," Adams' view of religion overall was rather ambivalent: He recognized the abuses, large and small, that religious belief lends itself to, but he also believed that religion could be a force for good in individual lives and in society at large. His extensive reading (especially in the classics), led him to believe that this view applied not only to Christianity, but to all religions."

   -- Peter Roberts (poet and mathematician)

It's also interesting to note, from "The Light and the Glory" that John Adams' choice for commander-in-chief of the Continental Army would be George Washington -- the "only qualified man who did not want the job".

"But to Adams' mind, that very selflessness and abhorrence of position where two of the things which most recommended him."

   --- Peter Marshall and David Manuel

THOMAS JEFFERSON

According to the Marshall/Manuel research on Jefferson's contribution to the drafting of the Declaration of Independence:

"Jefferson did most of the final composing, borrowing heavily from the phraseology of popular sermons of the day -- except for the two phrases, "appealing to the Supreme Judge of the World for the Rectitude of our Intentions" and "with a Firm Reliance on the Protection of divine Providence". These Congress insisted upon including, over Jefferson's strenuous objection, for he was a confirmed "enlightened rationalist", soon to become privately a Unitarian."

George Washington was Episcopalian, and a Mason.

John Adams was Unitarian.

Thomas Jefferson was an "enlightened rationalist" and Unitarian.

Remember, these are the presidents who helped shape America early on.

Now, things are really getting interesting.

From George Washington to Joseph Biden, you will find their faith, education, beliefs, party, policies, and quotes here.

Being MARSHALLED to the MARSHALLS

Exodus 20:9

King James Version

9 Six days shalt thou labour,

and do all thy work:

A very strange thing happened on the creation of this 67th blog.

I found myself preparing the soil for it for at least six days.

Even as the seeds have been planted since I was a curious child.

Normally, I could create a blog, or two, in just a day.

But GOD wanted me to take deeper thought into this one.

First day, SPIRIT guided me to write an article on Thanksgiving:

"A REASON to GIVE thanks"

I wanted to know what American Thanksgiving really stood for.

Little did I know GOD would give me a lovely onion, wherein every thought, every idea, every urge, led to more discoveries.

But ought I be surprised, a discovery-loving born again?

Such is the ways of SPIRIT to those who love GOD, and believe in JESUS.

He reveals more of the TRIUNE GOD's ways.

From that article, I was particularly intrigued by the word "Puritan".

I thought to myself, that definitely deserved a deeper look.

On the second day?

Lo, and behold, SPIRIT leads me to a book the following day at a favorite second-hand bookshop.

I haven't read any other book since GOD made me born again over three years ago.

The Bible sufficed.

GOD was really leading His sheep to something.

So, I read the 359-page book over a period of three days.

I also found myself taking notes, ending up with 22 pages, just to serve my memory.

In my heart, I knew I was on to something.

The feeling kept growing each day.

So, I merely followed the clues, and prompts, SPIRIT always leads me to .

On the sixth day?

SPIRIT and I create this 67th blog.

With the intention we recognize GOD's hand in EVERYTHING.

"The Light and the Glory", by Peter Marshall and David Manuel, turned out to be an invaluable CHRISTIAN reference on the founding of America.

Through the patience and perseverance of both Yale-educated authors, they were able to unearth, and were given, TONS of material you won't find on normal history books.

Such as the PRESENCE of GOD in the heart of the pioneering Christopher Columbus, George Washington, and John Adams.

Of course, it's well-known about the faith of the Pilgrims, and the Puritans.

To add another layer to the story, as I was writing that Thanksgiving article on 25 November 2022, the name Peter Marshall comes to mind.

He was spoken of by Dr. David R. Reagan in the two videos GOD gave me to study.

Those videos opened my heart to the urgency of the times.

Right there and then, GOD made me born again.

He had work for me to do, blogs, and all.

That's been over three years now.

And yet, I've always been intrigued by the chaplain to Washington presidents, Dr. Peter Marshall.

Another layer to the onion unfolds.

"The Light and the Glory" turned out to have been written by his son, also named Peter Marshall.

The other layer to the onion that unfolds is the Peter Marshalls, and David Manuel, have since gone on to the LORD, and yet their work is not forgotten.

At least, not by mini me.

This blog will be vast, in scope.

And all because GOD led me to write about American Thanksgiving.

Where Dr. Reagan called America's attention to its being "ripe" for GOD's wrath and correction, Peter Marshall and David Manuel calls our attention to how America was founded, under GOD's banner.

That there was a very deep CHRISTIAN root to it all.

That GOD guided every believer to the founding of America.

That there were many instances of striking "divine providence" which no man can defy.

GOD's will be done.

That was a definite in that Marshall/Manuel book.

In my 1977 copy of "The Light and the Glory", the subtitle was:

"Did God have a plan for America?"

Before GOD led me to buy that book, that was the VERY question in my heart, too.

GOD merely led me to the book which answered it.

America was once the purveyor of freedom.

How is America now?

Does America believe in GOD?

Is America still respected?

Where is America heading for?

Those were the questions that played in my mind as I wrote that Thanksgiving article.

I needed and wanted to know why America is the way it is now.

Of course, we turn to its leadership.

The book spoke of the FIRST three presidents, from George Washington, to John Adams, to Thomas Jefferson.

As I read about the faith of these presidents, I seemed to have an inkling where America would be heading.

This blog had to be created.

That was a certainty.

Even just for my own personal study.

But you are welcome to look into what I'd found, or will be finding.

Thus, the title of this 67th blog, "GOD's power over nations".

For a born again, only GOD has TRUE power.

The HOLY SPIRIT and I have created 66 other blogs, hundreds of posts, and 24 spiritual warfare books, to prove just that.

Why, then, are we not acknowledging GOD's power?

JESUS gives a clear answer:

John 8:47

King James Version

47 He that is of God heareth God's words:

ye therefore hear them not,

because ye are not of God.

I knew this blog will explore more about the faith of American presidents, and other nations.

I want to see the results of obedience to GOD.

As well as consequences of disobedience.

The Marshall book fueled my growing interest on the founding, growth, fall, and redemption of nations.

Starting with America.
